My Name is Andrew Schwach. The identity Andrew Videre comes from the combination of the companies' name Videre, which is Latin for Vision, and my first name Andrew. This way I combine my makers mark and the Hallmark into one simplified signature for my work. I studied fashion design at Parson's School of Design in New York City. During my Junior year I was awarded the American Dress Design Scholarship. The scholarship was juried and presented by designers, Bill Blass, Kay Unger, and Carmen Marc Valvo. A scout from Oscar De La Renta saw my presentation during the awards dinner and offered me a design position. After briefly working for the de la Renta firm, I felt that I wanted a more hands on approach. I moved back to St. Louis and enrolled in metal smithing classes. I found I was able to use the skills I had acquired In New York to work with this new medium, precious metal. Four months later, I started my own company, Videre Jewelry Design. I personally design and handcraft the jewelry. For me, this is the easy part, it's the selling that is hard. That's why I genuinely appreciate you taking the time to consider my designs.
